The Building Safety Regulator's Strategic Plan
The Building Safety Regulator's Strategic Plan
The Building Safety Regulator (“BSR”) has recently issued its strategic plan (“The Strategic Plan”), which sets out how the BSR will carry out its building safety functions.
The Strategic Plan is a requirement of Section 17 of the Building Safety Act 2022 (“BSA 2022”) and was designed to uphold focus of the key provisions of the new building safety regime.
The Strategic Plan covers the BSR’s intentions between April 2023 and March 2026 and is set out in four main categories:
- Delivering consistent standards within the building control profession;
- Overseeing and driving improvements across the built environment;
- Regulating the planning, design, and construction of new higher-risk buildings ("HRBs"); and
- Ensuring those who are responsible for HRBs manage risk to ensure the safety of residents.
This course covers the strategic planning and implementation of safety and regulatory measures for higher-risk buildings (HRBs) in England.
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
- Understand how the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) establishes and enforces consistent standards within the building control profession
- Learn the regulatory processes for planning, designing, and constructing new higher-risk buildings (HRBs)
- Explain the roles and responsibilities of Accountable Persons (APs) in managing and mitigating risks associated with fire and structural integrity to ensure the safety of residents in HRBs
