Obligations of a Contractor under the Building Safety Act 2022 (BSA)

As a raft of secondary legislation is published, it becomes critical for contractors to be aware of the obligations imposed on them under the Building Safety Act 2022 (“BSA”) and the accompanying secondary legislation i.e. Regulations.

The BSA has revolutionised the construction industry, introducing new safety measures which aim to address the systemic failures that led to the Grenfell Tower tragedy in 2017. As a result of the BSA, measures are now in place to ensure that buildings are designed, constructed and maintained to the highest standards of safety, in particular, higher-risk buildings.

This course aims to enhance your understanding of the roles under the new legislative framework, ensuring safer building practices and better project outcomes. 

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

1. Understand the roles and responsibilities of contractors under the Building Safety Act and Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, including the definition and duties of dutyholders.
2. Understand the requirements of the gateway process for higher-risk building projects, ensuring compliance with necessary regulatory approvals at each stage.
