Building Regulations 2023; Changes during Construction

The Building (Higher-Risk Buildings Procedures) (England) Regulations 2023 (“Building Regulations 2023”) have introduced a variety of changes within the construction industry. Within this course, we will be discussing the introduction of the new change control process that will apply at gateway two.

Previously, the parties would agree how changes would be dealt with in the Building Contract. However, the overarching impact of the change control system under the BSA is that it will be overseen by the new Building Safety Regulator (“BSR”), and accordingly, individuals must comply with the change control requirements enforced by the BSR.

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

1. Understand the Scope and Application of the BSA Change Control Process
2. Identify and categorise the different types of changes—major, notifiable, and recordable—within the context of the BSA change control process
3. Understand the procedural requirements for each type of change, including the necessity of notifications, approvals, and documentation
