Contract documents - and how to use them in your project by John Hayes

More words of wisdom from John Hayes explaining what project management tools are and how they should be used...

When you are planning the concept, pre-construction, construction and handover and completion phases of a construction project, it is highly recommended that the following documents are robustly prepared.

  • The PIP - Project Initiation Document

This document compiles key project information such as the scope, success criteria, business value, and risks. Always prepare pre-commencement.

  • The C - Contract

The book of rules between the parties defining accurate co-ordinated scope, the terms and conditions and the quantum.

Always execute pre-commencement.

  • The PEP - The Project Execution Plan

The “how” of the Contract. The document that explains the way to execute, monitor, and control projects.

Always develop and improve during the construction phase.

How are these three documents integrated and managed?
