Ann Allen MBE, CEO, Chartered Inst. of Civil Engineering Surveyors
As a professional membership body we can, through our members, have reach into many different organisations and businesses.
Enabling our members to feel that they can #ChooseToChallenge is vital.
I want the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors to champion diversity and celebrate the role of women within civil engineering surveying.
I want to enable men within the profession to have the courage and the skills to support these women as they carve out their own successful careers.
At CICES we want to provide the skills and toolkit to help members to choose to challenge in a positive and constructive way so that it demonstrates the benefits of change and encourages new ways of looking at situations.
We see too many of our members impacted by cruel, aggressive and on occasions very threatening responses when challenged in the wrong way, particularly through social media.
We want to help members to choose to challenge and to feel safe to be able to challenge.
We also want members to have the skills to listen to constructive challenge and to feel safe to change and adapt to a diverse workplace.
Membership organisations are empowered by their members, challenging the status quo will help ensure we remain relevant and will make CICES and the civil engineering surveying profession thrive.
